L’Anse de Rochers

January 27 to February 3

My plans for posting fairly regular blogs got derailed by truly flaky WiFi. Now that I have a working WiFi again, I plan to publish a couple of current posts. Then perhaps I will go back and fill in the blanks.

We are now on the South coast of one of the two “big” Guadeloupe islands … this one appropriately called Grande-Terre … near the little port-and-marina town of Saint-François. We are staying in a typical French-Caribbean beach community called L’Anse de Rochers … a.k.a. Rocky Cove.

We have an apartment in one of these little cottages …

Our little studio, like many Caribbean “gîtes”, has a tiny kitchen on the balcony … just perfect for making breakfast in the mornings and pouring drinks in the afternoons. We discovered yesterday that the Boulangerie Car stops by each morning from 7:30 to 8:30 with baguettes and croissants …

From our balcony, we can check on the state of the ocean …

… or take a look at the sunrise …

… before Jana heads down to the pool for her morning swim …

As these clouds suggest, we do get the occasional downpour but in practice the weather here is absolutely perfect … 😎
